You know you have arrived in paradise the moment you land at Koh Samui’s airport. This open air, beautifully manicured airport sets the mood for your stay.
The warm and welcoming feel didn’t stop here, we arrived at Nora Buri Resort & Spa and high fived. We had hit the jackpot again!
Greeted with a cool drink, a lovely lady came to give us the good news we had been upgraded the first night and the following nights we would be in the Private Pool Villa overlooking Koh Samui! Having booked a standard garden room we were over the moon.
You were taken everywhere in this resort by buggy as it is built on a hill, up we went to our first room – wow if this was the first upgrade, the next one was going to be nuts! And it was..
Each of the three pools at the resort had a unique feel and they were never busy. We spent alot of time in the afternoons at the pool overlooking the beach drinking cocktails. They were similar price as Australian cocktails ($15) but well worth the indulgence.
One of our favourite things to do in Koh Samui was eating and drinking at Ark Bar. We would have stayed here a couple nights (removing Bangkok completely) had we known had much we would enjoy it.
The atmosphere here is great. Affordable and delicious food to line your stomach for the largest and most delicious cocktail list. Constant music, fire twirling and bare skin.
Continue your night into the early hours of the morning at Green Mangoes.
Another great place to eat is The Barge (part of the Nora Buri resort). Upmarket Thai food with a romantic setting overlooking the pool.
The great thing about Koh Samui is that you can ride around the island! We hired a scooter for the week and went in a different direction each day stopping at anything or anywhere that caught our eye.
Todd bought me a cooking class for Christmas which had been on my to-do list over here. SITCA is very well known and it was the best food we ate the entire trip – and we cooked it ourselves! We never would have thought to make or pick any of the courses we made off a menu but they were all amazing! You get a disc and recipe book when you leave incase you want to try cooking back home.
